Leonidas (c. 530 – 480 B.C.) was a king of the city-state of Sparta from about 490 B.C. until his death in 480 B.C. He is well known for his battle at Thermopylae along with his 300 brave men and other Greek forces, versus the big army of Xerxes. They tried to defend the pass of Persian Army. Leonidas died with all his brave men except two who lived. The death of Leonidas was seen as a heroic sacrifice. Read more…
